Day 1 – Perth to Dunsborough
Our adventure begins as we travel south from Perth with our first stop at the popular tourist town of Busselton. It’s hard to miss the 19th-century Jetty stretching 1.8km into the turquoise Geographe Bay. Here we’ll have a coffee on the waterfront, stroll along the white sandy beach and chat about what exciting things are to come.
A little way down the road we’ll stop at the breathtaking Meelup Beach where we’ll have some lunch and a quick swim. Saying goodbye to paradise (don’t worry there will be plenty more), it’s time to tantalise your taste buds as we spend the whole afternoon tasting our way around the Margaret River region. We’ll visit boutique wineries, breweries, a gin distillery, chocolate factory and a cheese factory, sampling as we go.
We’ll be having dinner and spending the night in the popular tourist hotspot Dunsborough. Loved for its sparkling calm clear water, white sandy beaches and great evening vibes. Drive time today is about 3.5 hours with lots of stops along the way.
Day 2 – Dunsborough to Walpole
This morning you’ll meet Wardandi custodian Josh, who will introduce you to the world’s oldest living culture with his authentic and personal interpretation. Go deep down into the Ngilgi Cave for a memorable underground didgeridoo performance.
Swing by the tiny town of Yallingup to check out some of the world’s best waves, before arriving into the township of Margaret River. Nestled between vineyards and towering Karri forests, Margaret River is renowned for premium wine and produce, surfing, art and nature. You’ll have some free time here to explore the eclectic mix of shops and galleries.
We’ll stop at Hamlin Bay to check out the local stingrays before heading to the 50-metre tall Diamond Tree. It’s a native karri tree once used as a fire lookout and if you are brave, you can climb to the top to have amazing views over the whole region. Next, we’ll make our way into the pristine wilderness of Walpole, home of the Valley of the Giants. Here we’ll be having dinner and spending the night. There are about 4 hours of drive time today.
Day 3 – Walpole to Albany
This morning you’ll discover the stunning beauty of the Valley of the Giants. In this giant forest of towering Red Tingle trees, many are over 400 years old. We’ll spend some time here doing the ‘Ancient Empire Walk’ and ‘Treetop Canopy Walk’.
From the forest to the ocean as next, it’s onto William Bay National Park where you will be amazed by the paradise that is Greens Pool. A magical beach completely sheltered, it’s the perfect place to have a swim. Then it’s onto yet another laid back and beautiful township called Denmark, where we’ll have lunch.
Cruise along a glorious stretch of coastline to Albany, seeing how years of natural erosion have crafted incredible rock sculptures and granite bluffs – the Natural Bridge and The Gap are two of our favourites. We’ll have some time have a look around the historic township before dinner. We’ll overnight in Albany after an easy day of driving of around 2 hours.
Day 4 – Albany to Esperance
Just a short drive from Albany brings us to the Porongurups. This unique mountain range rises from the landscape like an island. We’ll be setting out on a two-hour hike through some spectacular forests to Castle Rock. It’s a bit of a climb but worth every bit of effort as you are rewarded with jaw-dropping views over the region.
Then it’s back on the bus to get ready for some of Australia’s most spectacular scenery. This part of Western Australia has no less than nine National Parks and some of the best beaches in the world. We’ll be spending some time at Twilight Beach before continuing onto Esperance. Here you’ll have some free time to explore the township before dinner. We’ll be staying in our Esperance accommodation for two nights and today drive around 5 hours.
Day 5 –Cape Le Grand National Park
Cape Le Grand is one of Western Australia’s best-known and most spectacular National Parks and is just a one-hour drive from Esperance. Pristine and perfect are two words that reflect its absolute beauty. The ocean here is practically transparent and the sand at Lucky Bay has twice been judged Australia’s whitest. You’ve seen the pictures of the kangaroos on the beach and this is where you’ll find them. So beautiful is this park we will be spending the whole day here exploring, swimming and bushwalking. And you’ll also have some free time to do whatever you please.
Today we’ll embark on one of the best hikes of the tour, climbing Frenchman Peak. We’ll have lunch here and watch a spectacular sunset with a cold beer before heading back to Esperance for dinner and our last night together.
Day 6 – Esperance to Perth
On the last day of the tour, we have a lot of distance to cover so it’s up early and on our way. Stopping for lunch in an outback town we’ll continue on until we are marvelling at the weird and wonderful Wave Rock. After some exploring, it’s back on the bus to the historic township of York, WA’s oldest inland town. We’ll see the Rabbit Proof Fence that was built between 1901 and 1907 to keep rabbits and other agricultural pests, from the east, out of Western Australia.
As your amazing 6-day adventure tour comes to an end, we’ll roll into Perth around 6.30pm after travelling around 9 hours with stops along the way.
